Sylvari
I have read the "Movement of the World" article on Guild Wars Wiki but the one thing that I don't understand about the Sylvari is whether there are any Males in their species. Through the article it only refers to the Sylvari as her or she and it also says that they cannot reproduce which would lead you to believe they are all female. Any ideas on this?

Well, maybe they are at the time of GWEN...
But I guess if its going to be playable in GW2, then there will be males as well.

Gaile did say in one of her chats when asked if there would be male Sylvari that she had seen concept art for the Sylvari females (the only image we have of the Sylvari so far) and males. So i guess there are going to be males.

Right... I guess from your eyes they must be cute enough to be Sylvari... while they're merely 'cute' humans (or is that a joke?)
In any case, I dont think they are. No green hair, no swirling tatoos so what makes you say that?

while we're on the topic, since it's been said the sylvari do not reproduce, why are they even going to bother making a male model other than to appease people? lol I don't know what others think, but the female concept art is MORE than enough to my liking
Not to mention, if you are seriously going to classify the sylvari into male and female, are the breasts on the concept of the female sylvari just for show? lol

The Sylvari should be like the dryads or forest nymphs, i.e. female only.

There have been many games in the past where some of the most awesome races/classes forced you to be female.
Not to be discrimnatory or anything, but when it comes to gender, men prefer either sex (maybe females a bit more :P ), I see no case in games where people are screaming for a male variant of something though.

Not so much screaming for a male variant, rather puking after seeing the female versions.

Frankly I thought the concept art for the female sylvari was stunning. But still, why female AND male if they dont reproduce, whats the point of having both sexes with their respective "parts"? XD

I doubt they were thinking of the lore . Anet obviously want to give players a choice (if someone wants to create a Sylvari and carry their GW1 male characters name they would be pretty screwed when it came to female characters only). I dont see the harm in giving people a choice.
I will be making Sylvari female as i also thought their concept art was great .

What if they change it so Sylvari have no gender? That would be interesting, and I'd probably be more inclined to play one.

Female Charr mesmers in tight corsets doing whirls leaving pink trails behind
( and dont forget the pink lipstick on the pouty lips)
On a side note I'd love having a male variation from the sylvari but i won't die if there isn't one. Still looking pretty much forward to them.

If there arent any male versions of Sylvari, there are no female either. Because otherwise their boobs and other female parts would be useless and evolution doesnt like useless body attributes.
Without males, no females, it would just be a unisex race.
O wait someone else also noted that earlier..

Yes, i was the one to note that... But I wasn't thinking in terms of "evolutionarly process" because the simple fact that the whole race started because they seemingly randomly started hatching from a plant's 'pods' kinda deflects any sort of species development.
You think its possible whole race was just started because melandru is preparing an army of sylvari born from herself (her tree domain) to try to take control over the other gods like abbadon tried? LOL
Its possible from what we've seen... But
1)why would the gods allow Melandru to simply 'will' a race into existence, its got to violate some kind of noninvolvement thing
2)Abbadon's followers (the margonites) were humans that simply "converted" to him. Yes they were changed physically, but they weren't 'born' from abbadon.

What if they are unisex they just have boobs because they're modeled in the image of Melendru (by her I presume). Then they wouldn't have any other useless parts (well, useless for them)
And to answer the above post, the Dwarfs are gone. there must be a new race to take their place. Perhaps with the fall of the Dwarfs Melendru was allowed by the other gods to create a new species.

Notice that the article refers to the firstborn Sylvari as 'it'.
I think it will be interesting that Sylvari will only be one gender (feminine).
I also think Charr should only be male... But ehh.
